Created for new parents of children with Down syndrome, this program offers in-depth information and suggestions on what they can expect during the first 18 months of their child's life. Interviews with parents, medical specialists, therapists, and dieticians are interspersed with personal stories of individual children and their families. This program is divided into four sections, focusing on the special growth and developmental issues a child with Down syndrome may have. Each chapter covers a variety of aspects, including general healthcare, breastfeeding, nutritional needs; ear, nose, and throat concerns; speech; and physical therapy. Unobtrusive pop-up windows appear periodically at the bottom of the screen to emphasize points or refer viewers to more information in other chapters.
